Park History & Overview

Established in 1954, Huffman Ballpark is a cornerstone of community recreation in Huffman, Alabama, providing a dedicated space for youth sports and civic activities. In fact, the property as deeded can only be utilized for youth sports. Operated under the leadership of the Huffman Recreation Board, the park serves as a hub for athletic development, teamwork, and community engagement. With facilities designed to accommodate a variety of recreational needs, Huffman Ballpark ensures that local youth have access to a safe and structured environment for sports such as baseball and football.

Facilities & Amenities

Huffman Ballpark is located on Red Lane Road and includes 6 baseball/softball fields, one football field, a concession stand, a pavilion/restroom building, and an indoor batting cage facility. The overall property encompassed by the playing fields is in excess of 18 acres and owned by the Huffman Recreation Board. Property is adjacent to the Roebuck Golf Course.

  • Ages 5–6 (Introductory Level): 140 ft field

  • Ages 7–8 (Coach Pitch): 160 ft field

  • Ages 9–10 (Minors): 200 ft field

  • Ages 11–12 (Majors): 210 ft field

  • Ages 13–14 (Junior League): 350–370 ft field

Leagues & Participation

Huffman Ballpark is home to a vibrant youth sports community, serving more than 250 families through its baseball and football programs. Players range in age, with divisions including T-ball (ages 3–4), Coach Pitch (ages 5–6), and competitive age groups for ages 7–8, 9–10, 11–12, and up to 18.

Friends of Huffman Ballpark & Huffman Recreation Board operate as trusted partners with a shared mission: to ensure Huffman Ballpark thrives as a community centerpiece for years to come.

 

While both non-profits are dedicated to the park’s success, Friends of Huffman Ballpark and the Huffman Recreation Board serve distinct, complementary roles.​

The Recreation Board focuses on management and day-to-day operations, including programming, scheduling, and direct support for youth athletics.

Friends of Huffman Ballpark enhances the park’s impact by focusing on fundraising, marketing, and community outreach—areas that extend beyond the core responsibilities of the Recreation Board.
